Your kid builds real electronics, and you don't need to know how
A real Arduino kit with 25 step-by-step builds, from a first blinking light to a working card-lock door. The lessons do the teaching, and if your kid gets stuck, they send us a photo and we help.
What Factor Academy is
A real electronics kit with the teaching built in
Most kits come with a bag of parts and a list of steps, and they end up in a drawer after one afternoon. Factor Academy gives your kid a path instead, where every lesson adds one new part and one new idea.
Each build explains why every wire and every line of code works, so your kid understands what they made instead of just copying it. By the last lesson, they've built a door that only opens with the right card.
Who it's for
Made for curious kids and the grown-ups who love them
It's built for kids around 10 and up, or 8 and up with an adult beside them.
You don't need to know anything about electronics or code. The lessons explain every step, so your kid can do it on their own.
It's a gift they'll open on the day and keep using for months, and it's a lot of fun to build together.
Twenty-five hands-on lessons with real circuits and real code, at whatever pace fits your week.
How it works
Three steps from the box to their first build
STEP 01Open the kitEvery part for all 25 builds comes sorted in one clear case, so nothing gets lost.
STEP 02Follow the lessonEach build has its own page in the printed lesson book and its own digital tutorial, with clear steps that explain why it works. Most kids do one or two builds a week.
STEP 03Stuck? Send a photoSnap a photo of the circuit and a real person helps you find what went wrong.
The 25 builds
From a blinking light to a card-lock door
Every build uses what they learned the week before, so the projects grow with them and the last one feels like a real invention. After level 25, the same kit keeps going with whatever they dream up next.
From the founder
I started building with Arduino at 10, and this is the kit I wish I'd had
Back then, the kits told me where to plug the wires but never why, and the why is what turns one finished project into a hobby that lasts. So every Factor Academy lesson explains what each part does and what each line of code means, in words a ten-year-old can follow.
THE FACTOR ACADEMY TEAMTry it for 60 days, even if it's been used
Let your kid open it and try the first builds. If it doesn't click for any reason, send it back within 60 days for a full refund.
Questions parents ask
What age is it for?+
Kids around 8 and up who like taking things apart and asking how they work. Younger kids do great with a grown-up beside them, and plenty of teens and adults use it too. If your kid can read and follow steps, they can do this.
Do I need to know electronics or coding?+
No. The lessons start from "what is an LED" and explain every wire and every line of code in plain words. If a build won't work, send us a photo and we'll help.
What computer do we need?+
Every build is in the printed lesson book in the box, and each one also has its own digital tutorial that opens in a web browser on any phone, tablet or computer. To upload code to the board you need a Windows or Mac computer with a USB port. The coding software is free.
Is it a subscription?+
No. You pay once, there's no monthly billing, and the lessons never expire.
